South Tipperary Biodiversity Action Plan |
|||
|
"The natural heritage of South Tipperary has been shaped by its unique landscape and centuries of human influence. From Slievenamon and the Glen of Aherlow, to the fertile valley of the Suir, this natural diversity is an important part of our identity as a county. This is reflected in the choice of the bee as the emblem for biodiversity in South Tipperary, with its association with Cluain Meala and the importance of bee-keeping in the county. As well as contributing to our sense of place and the attractiveness of our county
to visitors, nature supports the sustainable development of the county by providing
food, natural resources and clean water and air, and regulating our climate. South
Tipperary County Council recognises the importance of our natural heritage both
for its own sake and as a fundamental resource for the county. " |
